Growing up here in Beautiful West Virginia I had the great pleasure of being handed down traditions that have been in our family for generations. I’m proud of my Mountain State Heritage and so is our family, but when it comes to Christmas here in West Virginia things get even better! Below we have added a few of our family traditions that we thought that we would share with all yall. Be sure in the comment section below, share your stories and traditions with us!
I remember as a child spending hours in the woods gather Ground Pine for not only wreaths but to use on our Christmas tree and to decorate our home.
Lycopodium obscurum, commonly called rare clubmoss, ground pine, prince’s pine or princess pine, is North American a species of clubmoss in the family Lycopodiaceae.
Historically, L. obscurum, Ground Pine has been harvested from the wild for use as Christmas greens for wreaths, as well as the use of its spores for flash powder.

Looking at Christmas Lights

This one goes out to our mothers, We both remember how we used to go our towns Christmas Parades. The Lights, the sounds the colorful holiday beauty, all wrapped up in a mile long parade. Our Daughter made it into the parade one year and it was amazing as a father to see her there.
